Eliquis is a brand name for the medication apixaban. It's an anticoagulant or blood thinner used to reduce the risk of blood clots, stroke, and systemic embolism in patients with certain medical conditions, particularly those with atrial fibrillation, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism (PE). Eliquis works by inhibiting a specific clotting factor in the blood called Factor Xa.
